Announcing Launchpad

Posted in Air, Announcements, Article, Downloads, Launchpad, Resources on October 16th, 2010 by Ian Ford – Be the first to comment

I’m announcing the release of my first AIR app, Launchpad. You may already be using it, or you may have located it lurking around the blog or my portfolio without my really saying anything about it, but that’s because I was still moving towards an official release.

Well, the time has come.

Launchpad is now available. You can learn more about it by visiting the project page for it, or if you’re already convinced (I’m sure you are) you could just install it now:

A Temporary Make Over

Posted in Announcements, Graphic Design on September 20th, 2010 by Ian Ford – Be the first to comment

So recently, as you may know, I redesigned my personal portfolio. In the time since, I’ve intended not only to actually continue updating said portfolio (as well as modifying certain sections), but I was also hoping to finish up a redesign for the blog to match. As usual, I’ve been highly distracted by other things, including the construction and launch of my first AIR app and other fun and games.

I have a design for the new blog, but it’s going to take me some time to actually slap it together into a usable wordpress theme. In the mean time, I figured the blog needed a makeover. I selected this theme because it’s clean and functional. Hopefully I’ll have something custom some time soon.

Silence on the Wires

Hey readers. I haven’t been updating in the last few weeks for personal reasons. I’m back now.

I’m working on a release version for my first public AIR app, and on a redesign for this blog to match a little better with my new portfolio.

The Blog is Now Live

Posted in Announcements on December 15th, 2009 by Ian Ford – Be the first to comment

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Ian Ford. I’m a Web Developer from Southern California, and I work specifically with the flash platform. I’ve decided that besides having a personal portfolio (which is in redevelopment hell right now), I should also be blogging about the flash platform and my other programmatic interests.

Presently, I’ll be commenting on issues and trends related to RIA development on the Flash Platform. In the future I hope to offer tutorials, screen casts, code releases, and commentaries and pointers on some of the smaller, more obscure issues I’ve run into working with Flash.

At the moment I’m content with the look and functionality of this blog but it is, like everything, a work in progress. Changes are likely to abound in both appearance and content.

In the mean time, what I really need is a good syntax highlighter that actually displays correctly with my theme.
